Social and Community Benefits of Angling research

Between 2009 and 2011 research was undertaken into the social and personal benifits on the introduction of angling to the community and especially to young people.  The below link will lead you to the full report.

We offer free fishing lessons to schools.

Fishing London's own Level 2 Coaches are fully qualified, approved and vetted by the Angling Trust.

We offer and teach full-time fishing lessons for all disciplines of fishing.

All coaches have attended and achieved certification in not only their chosen field but also First Aid and Child Protection. All coaches have a public liability insurance up to £5 Million via "Insure 4 Sport". (Details available on request.)

You can rest assured all coaching programs are run professionally with health and safety at the forefront. Each session is bespoke to the clients' needs and abilities.

We will not discriminate or turn anyone away from the opportunity to learn to fish. Everyone is equal when it comes to coaching. We adhere precisely to the Angling Trust code of conduct and strive to achieve best practice at all times.

We currently work closely with pupil referral units, young offenders and young people with all manner of learning or physical difficulties.

It's really amazing to see the transformation angling can have on an individual.

  • Improved confidence and self-esteem.

  • Improved social relationships.

  • Increased community engagement.

  • Disengagement with anti-social behaviour.

  • Re-engagement with education.

  • Raised aspirations.

Angling can motivate and ground anyone once they are shown how and where to find fish. "You'll always remember your first catch!"

Angling has been proven to be beneficial in many ways, not only physically and mentally, it teaches humility, appreciation as well as respect and sense of ownership for the environment.

We're very lucky to have access to state of the art fishing facilities at Walthamstow reservoirs in North East London, we are able to offer a large classroom with toilets all with disabled access and high-quality fishing platform.

We also run fun days and open days or sessions for Councils, youth centres, holiday clubs, families, private parties and corporate days. Contact us if you'd like to work with us.

Students are welcome from 5 years old. Students under 16's MUST have a parent or guardian with them. Under 18's must have permissions from his or her legal guardian.
